Business and Finance


The district’s annual budget allocates funding from Washington state, the federal government, local levies and bonds, grants, student fundraising, and donations into four accounting funds:

  • General Fund – education of students
  • Associated Student Body Fund – student activities
  • Transportation Vehicle Fund – school buses
  • Capital Projects Fund – land acquisition, construction or modernization of facilities.

State and federal regulations apply to revenues and expenditures for each of these funds.

The Board of Directors typically begins budget development discussions in January. Discussions continue until budget adoption in July. Public input is welcome.

2014-2015 Budget Development

The district’s Budget Committee held two meetings this spring:

A draft of the 2014-2015 budget will be available in the district office on June 23, 2014, and the public hearing on the draft budget is scheduled for July 28, 2014 at 6:30 PM, in the Coupeville Elementary School Library.

District fiscal information is reported to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and may be accessed on the OSPI Website.

Interlocal Agreements

The Washington State Interlocal Cooperation Act allows public agencies to enter into agreements to provide public services or perform government activities authorized by law. The Coupeville School District makes use of this opportunity to obtain services of benefit to our students and staff that it would not be able to provide independently. Current agreements include:
